KASK Star Lady Chrome Reithelm in Schwarz mit breitem Schirm

KASK Dogma or Star Lady? The difference is in the peak.

Anyone looking for a KASK riding helmet almost always ends up with the same two names: Dogma and Star Lady. At first glance the two look very alike – and they are. KASK describes both models with the same construction, the same testing and the same sizes. The difference is the peak. Everything else follows from that.

What both models have in common

According to KASK, the Dogma and Star Lady are built identically:

  • Outer shell in ABS with a fabric cover that is scratch-resistant and easy to clean.
  • Inner shell in expanded polystyrene in three densities.
  • Inner padding in Merino wool, attached via a click-in system with three pins, removable and washable.
  • Fit system: KASK's self-adjusting system, which settles against the back of the head at the nape. There is no adjustment dial.
  • Ventilation via two honeycomb grilles in the polystyrene.
  • Chin strap in synthetic leather, which KASK describes as skin-friendly and easy to clean.
  • Standards: EN 1384:2023 and ASTM F1163 (SEI-certified).
  • Sizes: 51 to 63 cm head circumference, in steps of one centimetre.

So when it comes to safety, there is no ranking between the two. Anyone who chooses the Star Lady is not choosing a safer helmet, and anyone who chooses the Dogma is not choosing a simpler one.

The difference: the peak

The Star Lady has a distinctly wider peak than the Dogma. KASK calls this “Extra Sun Protection”: the wide peak is meant to protect face and eyes from sun and rain. The Dogma has the shorter, classic peak.

This has two consequences worth considering beforehand. First, the view: a wider peak keeps out low sun but also extends further into your field of vision. Second, the look: the peak makes the Star Lady look longer and more closed, the Dogma more compact. The quickest way to see which shape suits you is in the mirror.

Weight and price

The wider peak weighs a little. KASK states 550 grams for the Dogma Chrome and 580 grams for the Star Lady Chrome. The weight increases with helmet size; the figures for the individual versions are on the respective product pages.

On price, the Star Lady in our range is currently €50 above the Dogma in the same version, for example with the Dogma Chrome in Black and the Star Lady Chrome in Black.

Which versions are available

We stock both models in several versions:

  • Chrome: matt shell with chrome-plated frame, in several colours and frame colours.
  • Hunter: without a chrome accent, all in one colour.
  • Pure Shine: glossy shell with chrome-plated frame.
  • Carbon: shell with a carbon surface, glossy or matt.
  • Swarovski: set with crystals. We stock these variants mainly for the Star Lady.

You will find all models in the KASK riding helmets collection. If none of the ready-made versions matches exactly what you want, you can also put together the Dogma and Star Lady yourself: shell, frame, crystals and your name on the helmet. You can do this on our KASK made to order page.

How to decide

  • Star Lady, if you ride outdoors a lot, are bothered by low sun or rain, and like the look of the longer peak.
  • Dogma, if you prefer the more compact helmet, a clear view upwards matters to you, or you want the less expensive helmet in the same version.

You choose the size in the same way for both: head circumference in centimetres, measured just above the ears. How exactly to do this and what matters in the fitting check is covered in our guide Choosing the right riding helmet size. If you would like to compare both helmets directly, you can try them on in our shop in Rostock.
